Construction of an operating theatre at Mabvuku Polyclinic as well as the expansion of the institution has begun and is expected to be complete by year end, Harare's Clinic Health director Prosper Chonzi said yesterday.
Chonzi said the move is meant to de-congest central hospitals, especially Harare Central Hospital which are always congested with expectant mothers as well as reducing material mortality.
He said they want to improve the welfare of pregnant mothers, emergence issues will be attended to without transferring mothers to central hospitals and this will definitely reduce the number of women who die giving birth.
