STI cases still high in Mat North - NAC

The National Aids Council (NAC) Matabeleland North wing plans to work with tertiary institutions in an effort to curb the spread of STIs.
NAC says STIs are rampant in most education institutions and Lupane State Univercity (LSU) in the province has been targeted.
During a workshop in Bulawayo on Tuesday, Dingaan Ncube, Matabeleland North NAC coordinator said in the 4th quarter of 2014, more than 8000 clients in the province were treated for STIs with Umguza district topping with 24%.
Ncube said Tsholotsho and Hwange recorded a similar trend which is also very high of 19.5% and 20% respectively.
Ncube said STI rates are high due to small scale mining activities that take place in the two areas.
