Nurses accused of stealing ARVs

Two nurses were on Wednesday this week arraigned before Village Magistrate Court accused of stealing Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ARV) at Broadhurst 3 Clinic in Gaborone.
The Voice reported that the two officers, Morongwa Sechi and Mandla Phatshwane appeared before court charged with a single count each of stealing by a person employed in the public service in 2014.
They were not asked plead but were advised of the obligation to return to court on the September 17 this year.
According to court records the two nurses were on duty when a number of ARV tablets went missing.
It is on their charge documents that between the period 20th March 2014 and 17 September 2014(exact dates unknown) while employed by the Ministry of Health as a nurses at Broadhurst 3 Clinic, in Gaborone acting jointly and with common purpose, stole some Anti Retro Viral tablets which came into their possession by Virtue of their employment.
Sechi aged 37 and Phatshwane aged 40 acting jointly and with a common purpose allegedly stole Tenoforir + Emtricitabire + Efarirenz (Atripla batch No.3017655), Lamivadine Zidorodine (batch No.3017052) and Diazepan Bp 5mg (batch No.47632).
The two accused officers were represented by attoney Mantswe while the state was represented by Sharpe Dubula from Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
