Mthwakazi Liberation Front has said while other people view the late Cuban former President Fidel Castro as a dictator, it is not a hidden fact that he was a lover of freedom of the people.
MLF spokesperson Ndabezinhle Fuyane said while some enemies of communism call the late hero Fidel Castro a dictator, many Africans will recognise and acknowledge him as a freedom loving icon, because the role played during the decolonisation of Africa.
"It is no hidden fact that many parts of Africa today, had stooge presidents that had been imposed on them by the enemies of communism, through the help of Cuba and Fidel Castro, had a chance of tasting true freedom," he said.
"Castro escaped a number of assassination attempts from his enemies during term in office not because he had wronged them directly but because he had dedicated his time in office in seeing that the oppressed worldwide, broke the chains oppression and colonialism and became as free as their masters."
He said therefore they as Mthwakazi people, will forever remember him for that immense contribution that saw the Zipra forces become a force capable of landing the colonial masters to their knees.
"This so called "Zimbabwe" could have not known the word "freedom", had Castro and Cuba not opened hands for the Mthwakazi unifier Dr Joshua Nkomo.
Castro is one figure we can without fear, call a global icon for the role he played liberating his people first in 1959 and then the rest of the oppressed nations," he said.
Our land fall short of such legends who stand for their people to the last day, but only a brood of criminals and murderers, oppressors, traitors who cannot deliver the required, desired and expected fruits of freedom their people and the needy world over. Castro will be missed and be always remembered. We pass our heart felt condolences to the Castro family and the Cuban nation. May the his Soul Rest In Peace!!!"
