Rwandan doctor living in France charged with genocide

A court in Paris has charged a Rwandan doctor living in France on suspicion he took part in the country's 1994 genocide, the doctor's lawyer said on Friday.
Sosthene Munyemana, who has lived in France since 1994, is facing charges of genocide and crimes against humanity, lawyer Jean-Yves Dupeux said.
He has been released, but has had to hand in his passport and will have to report regularly to police, Dupeux said.
But it also in 2010 rejected an extradition request from Rwanda after Munyemana's lawyers argued he could not receive a fair trial there.
Munyemana, from Butare in southern Rwanda, was wanted on genocide and war crimes charges on an international arrest warrant issued by Interpol at Kigali's request.
More than 800 000 people, mainly minority Tutsis, were massacred by Hutu soldiers and extremist militias in the Rwandan genocide from April to July 1994, according to UN figures.
