Big news: Jyoti is measured at 61.95cm on her 18th birthday by Guinness World Record officials, making her the world's shortest woman
Jyoti Amge, 18, is an Indian high school student who was named as the world's shortest woman by the Guinness World Records. She wishes to show that size is not everything and hopes to make a career in Bollywood.
This "little" girl stands just 62.8 centimeters (24.7 inches) tall, which makes her even shorter than an average 2-year-old baby, but her ambitions are large.
Jyoti with a family friend two years ago - who, at 13 months, is already bigger than she is
Representatives of Guinness World Records visited Jyoti on her birthday to hand her the award for the record in front of her relatives and friends, in the town of Nagpur, in Maharashtra.
"I have put Nagpur on the world map. Now everyone will know where it is", she said, proudly, as she received the congrats from her family, and surprised the adjudicators as she added: "I want to be an actress".
"Jyoti encourages us all to look beyond mere size and to just celebrate our differences", Guinness representative Rob Molloy said after meeting the young girl.
Amge will now have the chance of taking sponsored trips to Japan and Italy, even though she did not obtain the title of the shortest woman in world's history, which still belongs to Pauline Musters, who lived in the Netherlands from 1876 to 1895 and stood 61 centimeters (24 inches) tall.
