Zuckerberg joined actor Jesse Eisenberg during an opening monologue of "Saturday Night Live." The two said they had never met before, and engaged in some awkward banter played to full comic relief.

Eisenberg played the Facebook founder in the Oscar-nominated film, "The Social Network," and was the featured guest Saturday night in the sketch comedy show.

As he began his opening monologue, he was first interrupted by SNL cast member Andy Samberg, who also impersonates Zuckerberg in sketches.

As the two compared notes on how they perfected their respective versions of Zuckerberg, the Facebook CEO was shown backstage pleading to go on.

"Why can't I go in there? I'm the real Mark Zuckerberg," Zuckerberg told the show's executive producer Lorne Michaels. "Those guys are such nerds. Come on, I invented poking."

He then joined his dopplegangers.

"Wait -- have you two not met? Awkward!" Samberg said before hopping off stage. "Well, I'll be going, Samberg out."

Eisenberg -- decked out in a suit -- conversed awkwardly with Zuckerberg, who was wearing his trademark hooded sweatshirt.

"So?" Zuckerberg said.

"So?' Eisenberg replied."I really liked you on '60 Minutes.'"

"Thanks, man."

Then Eisenberg asked: "You ever end up seeing the film 'The Social Network'?"

"Yeah, I did," replied Zuckerberg.

"Cool. Thanks. And what did you think?"

"It was interesting," Zuckerberg replied.

"Interesting? You know, I'll take it."

Zuckerberg then introduced the musical guest, Nicky Minaj, to kick off the show -- and the two shook hands.
