A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a woman, believed to be Zimbabwean, who fell from a third-floor veranda in Glasgow.
John Makonyola is accused of repeatedly hitting 23-year-old Cynthia Bote on the head at a flat in Drumchapel in August.
He is also charged with causing her to fall and strike her head on the ground.
The 31-year-old appeared for a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow. Judge Lord Woolman adjourned the case until February
Mr Makonyola also faces an accusation of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The charge includes a claim that he told police that Ms Bote had fallen from the veranda in an attempt to kill herself.
