24 March 2012 Elections Proposal Endorsement
The ZAPU UK/Europe Districts and Branch Chairs unequivocally support the proposal and announcement by the Council of Elders to hold provincial elections for Europe Province on the 24th of March 2012 and hereby endorse it as the only positive way forward. Holding back on the current leadership wrangle in our Province can only plunge our Party into further shame, shambles and utter destruction. The current stalemate is unhealthy for the Party and it weakens our credibility as leaders. Love for ZAPU is waning at an alarming scale at grassroots level in Europe and as leaders we just can't watch and wait with diminished interest when our Party is crumbling into ashes with no lasting solution in sight. The risk is just too great to ignore. Thankfully, the Districts and Branches have maintained their loyalty and the love for the party, what now remains is to awaken the giant in them and unleash their potentialities.
ZAPU now needs leadership, men and women who will stand up and be counted, Leaders who will put their differences aside and put the interest of the Party first. The recent debates, discussions and gossip talk following the disputed elections of 29/10/11 have laid bare the challenges facing our Province and this can only serve one purpose, 'tell us the calibre of leaders and leadership our Province needs.' Dear Comrades, let us use this opportune moment to remove all the dead wood in our Party structures. Let us not forget that our enemy is not the enemy within but the enemy without. Robert Mugabe and his ZANU-PF regime are killing our fellow countrymen, embezzling our natural resources and have since put our beloved Zimbabwe into shame and decay. All our arms, darts and bullets must be aimed at them.
ZAPU needs your voice right now, your vote is your voice, you can use it to shape the future of ZAPU on the 24th of March 2012 or you can withhold it to plunge ZAPU into further chaos and destruction in the Province. Now is the time to think with your brain and not with your heart. Let us all join hands together as we lead ZAPU to the next government in Zimbabwe.
Now is the time to usher in a new political dispensation anchored on the principles of competitive democracy in ZAPU structures and let the talents of our people flourish. We all know that ZAPU is the only truly democratic, truly representative party in Zimbabwe. ZAPU is the only organisation with a programme to meaningfully change the people's lives for the better. We have observed the entrenchment of democratic principles in all ZAPU structures and we shall promote democracy, defend it and fight for it in every step of the way to the State House. Democracy is ZAPU's vision and mission and it shall be unleashed in Zimbabwe to radically restructure and rebuild our nation.
