A Zimbabwean woman has launched a Cultural and Diversity Celebration event which will see North Tyneside change forever from rugs to riches.
The project is aimed at making each child realise their dreams by achieving their goals and help fight racism in their area by engaging families and children from different cultures to work together as one family to achieve one common goal.
Officiated by 2 councillors, Frank Lott and Norma Redfearne, in his own words Frank Lott said he can't wait to see this little child grow.
Among the organisers were Josephine Mudzingwa, Project leader and founder of the Culture and Diversity (BME) North Tyneside, Bryner Ramsey, Michael Siziba and the UFA champions from Norham Community College.
The event was attended by over 70 participants, present was our own Miss Zimbabwe North East Nokunqoba Ncube and two little miss charity Michelle Siziba and Scarlett who presented the dignitaries with flowers.
The event involved children and families designing costumes for the event, cooking and dancing to music without words. The waka waka dance took the stage by storm, with Keldine, Marshal and the little lad Grant stealing the show.
On being asked Josephine Mudzingwa, the Project leader who designs her own outfits with flair of bright colours and African essence, African head scuffs, neck scuffs and fashion, believes change is coming to North Tyneside where the Jodies will see more university graduates and more talent coming from the borough.
In her own Motto Josephine believes "it's possible to achieve your dreams once you put your mind into it."
If you can dream it you can do it.
She uses herself as an example of how people can achieve their dreams as she has done it too. She got a joint honours degree, not just a degree but a top class Honours. She started her own business from nothing too.
Norma Redfearne, Labour's Mayoral candidate who also come with Councillor Frank Lott to officiate the event, had this to say, she never thought she was good as anyone else but her granny told her to get out there and work at it u can do anything and you can be anything you want. Norma is proud of Culture and Diversity (BME) Northeast. Michael Siziba ended by thanking everyone for coming and making the event a success.
