Cox & Kings has announced that it is to reintroduce escorted group tours and tailor-made travel to Zimbabwe this summer. One of southern Africa's most enchanting countries, Zimbabwe offers stunning landscapes and superb wildlife viewing, led by some of southern Africa's finest guides, combined with a fascinating culture and history.

Best of the West, is an 11-day / 8-night fly-safari. This classic itinerary is designed to give a flavour of Zimbabwe's most iconic destinations. Begin in Bulawayo, the historic 'city of kings', home to wide tree-lined streets, well preserved Victorian architecture and many of the country's major museum collections. Safari drives are included in Matabo Hills National Park, where black rhinos can be tracked on foot, and Hwange National Park, famous for its huge herds of elephants. The tour ends at Victoria Falls, known in the local Tokaleya Tonga language as Mosi-oa-Tunya, or 'The Smoke That Thunders'.

Alternatively, Grand Tour of Zimbabwe is a 13-day / 11-night private journey, with a personal driver/guide accompanying throughout.

Since the Zimbabwean election in 2008 and the subsequent political power-sharing agreements, Zimbabwe has turned a corner. Wildlife populations are healthy, many highly professional and passionate Zimbabwean guides have returned home, and numerous camps and lodges have been refurbished. Tourism hasn't reached its pre-2000 levels, yet, but safari-goers are beginning to return in significant numbers. In an attempt to get Zimbabwe back on the map, the lodges and camps are offering prices of exceptionally good value.

Cox & Kings' Africa Product Manager, Louise Stanion said: "Zimbabwe offers one of the most comprehensive and varied African safari experiences on the continent. We have chosen to work with partners who help their local communities and ensure that the vast majority of the money earned from tourism goes into the hands of the people who really need it. The local Zimbabweans are thrilled to see tourists back in their country. Expect to be welcomed with genuine smiles and hospitality."
