China's VP Wang Yang to visit Zimbabwe

Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Yang is expected in the country this week for an official visit, it has emerged.
Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Friday the vice-premier will make the visit at the invitation of Vice-President Joice Mujuru.
Minister in VP Mujuru's office, Sylvester Nguni yesterday confirmed to The Standard Yang's visit, but could not give details as he was in a meeting.
Lei said the Chinese leader would also attend a special summit of the African Union from May 21 to 25 following an invitation by Prime Minister of Ethiopia Hailemariam Desalegn, who is also rotating chairman of the AU, and chairman of the AU commission Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
Yang will attend a special summit of the African Union to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Organisation for African Unity, the predecessor to the African Union. He will attend the event, to be held in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, as President Xi Jinping's special representative.
The AU is headquartered in Addis Ababa, where it is housed at a new complex recently built and donated by the Chinese.
