AUSTRALIAN EMBASSY in Harare has added its voice in condemning the abduction of journalist and human rights activist Itai Dzamara who has not yet been found since then.
In a statement Australia said it has been over 3 weeks since the disappearance of human rights activist and leader of Occupy Africa Unity Square movement, Dzamara.
"We remain seriously concerned by his disappearance, and for his welfare," reads the statement. "The Australian Embassy reiterates its call on the Government of Zimbabwe to do everything in its power to find Dzamara. We note the High Court judgment of 13 March, which orders the Zimbabwean authorities to mount a search for Dzamara and regularly report on progress until he is found."
The country said Zimbabwe as Chair of the African Union and Southern African Development Community, is looked up on to lead by example and in demonstrating the utmost respect for the fundamental rights protected under its Constitution.
Dzamara was abducted in Harare early last month and speculations were that he was being held by the police of CIOs while some pro Zanu PF people claim the MDC-T is hiding him in Botswana with a motive to demonise Zimbabwe as a human rights violator.
