Denford Farai, an HIV Zimbabwean asylum seeker, who had not received permission to work in an old people's home falsely claimed £50,000 in benefits.
Farai, 41, worked as a care assistant in a Lisburn old folks' home.
He worked there illegally for over a year while also falsely claiming £50,000 in benefits.
Bosses at the home had no idea about Farai's health problems.
It is a legal requirement for HIV infected health care workers to inform employers about their condition.
After arriving in Northern Ireland Farai told the Home Office he was destitute having fled persecution in his native Zimbabwe.
