Charleston - The 21-year-old shooter who shot and killed nine people at a historically black church in downtown Charleston, has been caught, according to reports.
CNN reported on Thursday that Dylann Roof of Lexington, South Carolina, was caught in North Carolina.
Roof was captured hours after police released surveillance video photographs of the gunman and a dark coloured sedan he may have used to get away.
The Facebook profile photo of a sullen 21-year-old Dylann Roof also shows a Rhodesian flag beneath the apartheid-era South African flag.
Nine people were killed when a gunman opened fire at the downtown Emanuel AME Church on Wednesday night. Police say the young white man joined a prayer meeting at the church and then opened fire.
Authorities have called it a hate crime. Federal officials have opened an investigation.
