Zim, UK Based Model to compete in World Pageant

Nokuthaba Vuma, an 18 year old beauty queen based in the UK, is set to represent Zimbabwe on the international scene in the Miss Intercontinental Beauty competition to be held in Orihuela (Alicante), Spain next month.
The event is to be held on October 7, 2011.
The beauty queen is currently Miss May in the Face of Zimbabwe contest, a role that has seen her become an ambassador of her country in the UK. The teenager is also KLM entertainment's Miss Valentine 2011 which she won earlier this year. She has also participated in various beauty pageants including Miss Coventry where she came out as the runner up and in Miss Face of Derby where she also came second.
Nokuthaba is hoping to follow in the successful footsteps of Vanessa Sibanda who was recently crowned second runner-up for the Top Model of the World contest held in Germany in March.
The Bulawayo born beauty queen would also be encouraged by the crowning yesterday of Miss Angola, Leila Lopes, a business student from the town of Benguela, as Miss Universe at the 60th annual pageant in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The 18-year-old was scouted through Face of Zimbabwe organisers, among several models, to represent Zimbabwe at the international beauty contest. She will be mentored and groomed for the contest by veteran businesswoman Hilda Mulenga who has also represented Vanessa at Miss Universe. In the Miss Intercontinental finals, the contestants will showcase their beauty while also lavishing in the beautiful historic region of Vega Baja del Segura.
Speaking about Nokuthaba's selection, a Face of Zimbabwe spokesperson said they were delighted that Zimbabwe would have a representative at another top international pageant and Nokuthaba is definitely a worthy contender. 'Face of Zimbabwe is about creating a platform for Zimbabweans all over the world to show the best of their country wherever they are through beauty, charity and tourism and Nokuthaba's participation in Miss Intercontinental is an epitome of that'. He added.
Face of Zimbabwe were also pleased to announce that Nokuthaba will be dressed for one of the segments by the fast growing fashion brand Chenai Chic who have dressed a lot of models in most of the recent Zimbabwe pageants, www.chenai-chic.co.uk.
The beauty queen is set to fly to Spain on September 22, returning on October 8. The teenagers' parents who have supported her throughout her modelling career have appealed for sponsorship to assist with some personal expenses of her trip and other requirements such as make-up, accessories and clothing.
