Have you ever wondered what a combination of Trevor Noah, Kevin Hart and Chris Rock would look like - well look no further than the newest kid on the block, Ofishal-Xavier.

The social media phenomenon has been announced as one of four acts to bring pizzazz to the Zim Achievers Awards on May, 7th in London.

This year's awards are sponsored by Eco-cash diaspora, Chitoro and Steward bank who are all part of the Econet group.

Xavier, who has been nominated for two awards now joins Gemma Griffiths and Kazz ‘Mr Boomslang' in a stellar line-up for the classy black-tie affair.

ZAA Event Coordinator Colline Watts said the organisers were ecstatic about the impending gala and pleased with the entertainment line-up.

"Every year we try to bring something fresh, current and electrifying to the event and this year's entertainers have lots of charisma, energy and talent, and we are looking forward to what each act is going to bring to the festivity," said Watts.

Xavier became an overnight sensation after posting comedic sketches on various social media platforms. His fan base catapulted shortly after he posted a video of him screaming from a car "Ngyatshiselwa" (I am feeling hot) to oblivious onlookers during a heatwave in the UK last year. The video garnered so much attention; a video meme has been created.

His Facebook page, OfishalXavier, has become the go-to-page for a good laugh from the budding comedian whose talent has no bounds, and who always has a trick or two up his sleeve.

Born in South Africa and partly raised in Zimbabwe, Gerald Xavier Do Couto is of Portuguese-Mozambican descent through his father. Xavier's rich cultural background has greatly influenced his professional approach to the arts.

He showed an interest in the arts at an early age and through primary and high school, took part in activities that contributed to his understanding and appreciation of it.
Although known widely for his comedic aptitude, Xavier has proved he is not a one trick pony and boasts a list of talents that include music, modelling and acting.

In his pursuit of knowledge and skills, he is currently a student at one of London's top acting schools and recently featured as an extra in the latest Star Wars film, The Force Awakens.

"I am a firm believer that education is pivotal to success," said Xavier

"I am living proof that hard work and determination, coupled with the desire to achieve academically has gotten me where I am today."

Xavier is currently working on his popular comedy series entitled, Na2lani, where he stars as the matriarchal character. Na2lani follows the story of a feisty Zimbabwean woman trying to raise her son in the UK, albeit, with the challenges that come with it.

Xavier, who is also an upcoming musician, is working on his house/rnb EP.

"I am currently working on my EP and putting the final touches to it."

"It will feature a number of artists I have collaborated with and popular tracks Ngyatshiselwa and Check your Balance," he added.

Xavier has worked with some of the biggest music artists in the game having recently performed with Casper Nyovest, AKA and Uhuru.

"I am extremely passionate, focused and determined to succeed in the arts industry with the intent to prove to the world that Southern Africa and Zimbabwe in particular have a wealth of talent," he said.

Now a prominent red carpet fixture on the Zimbabwean community calendar, the ZAA annual gala has become the society awards event of the year.

This year's ceremony will take place on Saturday 7th May at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London. The five-star venue has become home to the much anticipated ceremony for the last three years.

Tickets are available for £89.95 and are being sold exclusively on zimachievers.com. The Zim Achievers organsiers have encouraged the public to buy their tickets early before the ticket sales come to an end on the 29th of April.

Voting for this year's awards is still on-going and will end on the 29th of April.

Thereafter the votes will be tabulated and verified by the ZAA panel before they whittle the list down to this year's winners.
