Will the world come to an end tomorrow?

According to some doomsday theorists and their interpretations of the Mayan calendar, the world will end on Friday 21 December 2012.
The earth will apparently go out with a bang either crashing into a hypothetical giant planet called Nibiru or being sucked into a supermassive black hole in the Milky Way.
This is however not the first time doomsday prophesies have made of apocalyptic predictions as they did so in 1844, 1967, 1995, 1999, 2000 and 2003.
