Roadblock loot, should Nodia Gozho keep it? - Live Discussion

Good day to you all and Happy New Year!

Our discussion today will be about the little girl, 10-yr-old Nodia Gozho, who was busy minding her own business and picked up $2 000 (USD) from a dust bin 'like every average Zimbabwean child who goes around opening dustbins for "treasure"'. It turned out that the money was put in the trash can by two traffic cops.

Please note that I did not say the money "BELONGED" to the two law enforcement officers because they too had reportedly looted it from motorists and hid it in the trash can .

So who do you think should take the money?

No has been convicted of anything here. The correct procedure is that found money is kept for 30 days and if no one claims it within those 30days,it is taken by the state and the founder is given 10% if my memory serves me right, because l once benefitted.Lets brand the cops involved corrupt once they are convicted of corruption by a court of law.

The money belongs to the state so government should take her money. We might want the girl to keep the money but proceeds of crime never have a proper owner they are forfeited to the state unfortunately zrp is part of the state

Why is there a deafening silence from the Police spokeswoman who promised to issue a statement yesterday? This shows there's a cover up. The Police as a whole from the top have their hands in the cookie jar.

The money has no rightful owner, it dully belongs to the kid as no one will account and rightfully claim it. Good luck kid

There is nothing to debate about here, what does the law say about lost and found property and money? Just go back to the basics. The traffic officer should face the wrath of the law.

The money must be taken by the state and a token of appreciation given to the girl. The police officers deserve to be put behind bars and their assets seized. The police must also tell the nation how they have been sharing these daily bribes.

The mony belongs to who ever is stronger and at this point in time it belongs to the child because the police have been weakened by the fact that they obtained through unethical and immoral means.

The girl must be given the money because she picked it, these traffic officers hid it because they got it corruptly. I understand the girl's parents were tortured by the police to hand over the loot.

The money, believed to have been part of a bribe loot from motorists, was found in a rubbish pit near a roadblock in Beatrice by the 10-year-old scavenging for valuables along the highway last month.
The "lucky" girl and her friends are children of labourers from the nearby Gilston Farm.
The girl handed over the money to her mother, but police later made a follow-up and forced them to hand it back
