What happens when Mugabe dies? - Live Discussion

by Moyo Roy
15 Jan 2014 at 04:08hrs | Views

The post-Mugabe era is like a time bomb that Mugabe himself has been all this while strapping round himself like a suicide bomber on a mission to punish people for a reason he himself is not sure of its justification.

The point according to the topic of this discussion however is that God has always proved that all men are mortals and no matter how many doctors they employ in their rank and file, he created the human body with such precision that as you get around certain figures in age, it will be stupid for you and the people around to find it taboo to discuss your imminent demise.

Do you ever wonder what will happen soon after Mugabe's departure?

Just because an unpopular ruler dies, it doesn't mean you are guaranteed peace. Look at Iraq, Egypt, DRC to name but a few. The problem with Africans is you are caring your fore father's bitterness. Once he is gone we pray for a leader with forgiving qualities. On who is willing to accept what has happened bring our country back to being the bread basket of Africa. We need a new Talent with new ideas. If we follow all this tribal nonsense we going to end up like somalia. Be careful what you wish for.

I wonder why pple pray 4 the death of another man,esp the Ndebeles. We can't build a brotherhood nation by inciting class ðnic haterage.Gone are the dys of rhetoric poltics.@Chief Ruzani &@Anondida u sound so mature enough, that is constructive criticism.Human beings are infalliable @ Mudzonga.During the WW2 ,The League of Nations was the brainchild of H.Wilson though the USA never belonged 2 it becz it had refused 2 sign The Treat of Versailles (setllement) The ILO remained a toothless dog bcz of selfishness, indifference&sheer cowardice & which gave an open invitation 2 any country that wanted 2 seize the neighbouring territory 2 do so.So we must learn from this .Rukave haruvaki nyika .If it means deviding Zim into 2 parts then the judiciary will pave way 4 us.We can't tollerate individual needs bcz thus being lawlessness. We must b law abiding citizens. The country have a lot of challenges which requires combination from all races and we have endorsed various Mps.It needs 2 tackle the bull by the horns ¬ from the tail. 15 Jan 2014 at 12:03hrs

This is very healthy to discuss Mugabe's death. It used to be taboo. The end must be nigh! He is old and not immortal so he should manage his succession b4 he dies. To avoid people joking and fighting for power Mugabe should annoint a successor who will work with other parties to take this nation forward. Zanu pf's reputational risk is too high to be trusted so its only a Unity govt that can fix this economy. NIKUV delivered rigged elections but it has failed to rig the economy. Managers who have run down a company into liquidation cannot turn the company around and into profitability. A unity govt will command trust, respect and confidence. A staunch supporter of Zanu Pf does not trust the party and its leadership. Trust and confidence are priceless.

Many people will celebrate his death and this will not go down well with the security forces who will descend on the heavily on the innocent people. ZANU PF will be divided into many factions which might even lead to a civil war. The security forces will take advantage of the situation to sieze power and elect their puppet because they can not afford to relax. If power lands in the hands of the opposition they might find themselves at the Hague for war crimes, remember most of them participated in the Matabeland genocide. Mugabe should annoint somebody to takeover from within his party Zanu pf. Given that the International Community and Zimbabweans do not trust the Zanu pf govt the person annointed to take over by Mugabe should form GNU2 to fix the economy. It appears Mugabe is not well and the sooner he does this the better for the Zimbabwean economy and its people. In the national interest Mugabe should do this b4 he dies. We need all parties Zanu pf,MDC,Mavambo etc to work together and revive this economy for the sake of our children and future generations.

Mugabe is a very pertinent place holder in Zimbabwe's stability at the moment. When he finally dies, there will be a major political transformation in Zimbabwe. No1 is the succession issue in ZANU PF, prayer is he dies after he has sorted it and left a definite way forward otherwise its disaster. No2 is the shaky unity accord in ZANU PF. Nkomo will no longer be there so will be Mugabe and its a fact the original ZANU guys will want nothing more to do with kid gloving if the ex ZAPUs especially in the secondment into positions in both ZANU PF and in Gvt. That will be the end of the marriage. No3 National security will be put to great test. It is also fact that a huge number of people in the populace will celebrate Mugabe's death and riots and arrests will be the order of the day. The likely hood is that he will be buried under a state of emergency. No4 Because of the unrest that will follow the announcement of his death, it will be difficult for VP Mujuru to take over presidency because the military would want to put the situation under control so the likely hod would be that the country will be in the hands of the army generals. As to who of the generals will be in control its another issue. No5 One would suspect that as suggested by Baba Jukwa, Mugabe's death will be concealed for a while to give the generals time to work out a means and set up their strategy and structures and build a puppet successor who will be put there by the generals under their control just to avoid regional and international interference while they make sure ZANU PF recovers and one of the generals will be their presidential candidate come 2018 if Mugabe dies before 2018.

I am guessing its going to be a shocker to all those who think he is immortal. As for us it will be joyous news that will be received by so much ullulation and celebration.. Instead of having a month of mourning we shall have a month of hard partying 24/7.. Zim will have to be closed for a holiday mnth of celebrations.. I hope the army wont take over and chaos errupting in Zim.. and power hungry individuals causing a civil war.. but not zim.. we have no guts to pull it off otherwise freedom will have made a statement 2007/8 era..
