Robert Mugabe's salary

How much is President Robert Mugabe's salary?

'President Robert Mugabe is a civil servant and earns a meagre salary,' said Grace Mugabe.

The first lady made the statement in an interview on the South African television show People of the South, which is hosted by Dali Tambo.

By the time Grace Mugabe made the above pronouncement, civil servants were earning about $300 per month, does this mean Mugabe is in that salary bracket?

How much is President Robert Mugabe's salary considering obscene salaries being received by the likes of Cuthbert Dube and Company, Happison Muchechetere, Harare City council management and many more that we are yet to get their salary slips.

We know that Mugabe's annual salary for 2009 was pegged at $20,800, according to figures in the national budget.

In 2010 during the GNU tenure, Mugabe was reported to be receiving $1,750 a month before other unspecified allowances.

Under the Presidential Salary and Allowances Act salaries of top officials must be made public. Is it necessary for every Jack and Jill to know Mr President's salary?

@David is the city of Harare not run by MDC Tsvangirai? Tsvangirai must know what's happening, remember he is the man who paid Karimatsenga lots of monies maybe he was also the the Harare city pay roll. Let's not blame Zanu-PF for Tsvangirai corruption

A President of a country is a public or civil servant paid from tax payers' money so his salary should be public. A civil servant's salary should be published and not remain a secret. The ZBC and PSMAS salary scandal should be fully investigated and offenders prosecuted. The appointing authorities did not perform their oversight duties presumably they were also benefiting some how. Here u have a Persec of Ministry of Information appointing Cuthbert DUBE chairman of ZBC and DUBE appointing George Charamba a director of PSMAS. Charamba and DUBE agree to pay Happison $40000 per month at ZBC in return for some financial gain. At PSMAS DUBE appoints his friend George Charamba to the PSMAS Board and agrees to pay Dube $230000 per month and in return the PSMAS Board pays hefty board fees and perks. At City of Harare Chombo approves obscene Management salaries in return for pieces of land and other financial benefits. This is typical of the Zanu Pf patronage system which is corrupt to the core. The corrupt system is driven by appointing authorities in these cases, Ministries of Information and Local govt approved the salaries or did not play their oversight role. The entire PSMAS Board should be fired due to collective responsibility of the Board. There should be no cover up of this corruption cancer.

@bheki, that's true bro, its for a cover up. If that was a true reflection of his salary, malasia would have told him that his medical aid is exsorsted.

@tshuma, you may say it again, olusu and others have bought these towns due to high level of corruptions as it is competition to who can come out shifts with more money others.

Yes its necessary such that if not known the tax payers money finds cracks and disapper. Not only him every civill servant to the cleaner if there is one should have their salaries recited by everyone. We r tired of thieves who go to work for the sake of stealing not working. We will better of without a gvt than having a team of thieves. Those who don't want with their salaries to be known by public, they should leave posts for those who understand transparency.

That small salary is a mere outer cover to lead the public astray, let's take into serious consideration the billions of dollars they stash away illegally.

Yes it is necessary as he is a civil servant. This helps in eradicating this talk of the day 'corruption' which is wiping the country to its grave. This eliminates the likes of 'olusu', muchecheteres, dubes, chiyangwas, kuruneris and company from making this country their purchased property.

Give the confidentiality of this subject and distorted figures that go with it, I don't think we can get the correct figure of hiis salary. We will all remain guessing and suposing. Ew may have those who know it as they are there, but will never divulge.

But with the way things are going, i promise you people like Ignatious Chombo and Obert "lusu" Mpofu are quaking in their boots. To me they 2 are the most corrupt people in Mugabe's cabinet. They are the "greediest" if such a word exists. I have never seen such buffoonery in my life, idiots are buying a whole small town

When we were growing up, indeed the President and his deputies, salary would be announced when there was an increment in the news. Now we have to dig deep in order to find it, because the information is heavily guarded. Anyways, i just wanted to say, its possible that Mugabe's salary may still be in the same range of $25,000 per year.
