Should Tsvangirai, Ncube step down and pave way for United MDC? - Live Discussion

Some leaked documents from PDP to MDC factions allegedly suggest on behalf of Zimbabwean grassroots that they "would like to salute Welshman and Morgan for a wonderful job and appreciate their contribution to the struggle towards democracy and freedom since the formation of the Movement for Democratic Change in 1999."

However "PDP would like to state, for the umpteenth time, that both Presidents of the MDC factions, namely Cde President Welshman Ncube and Cde President Morgan Tsvangirai to resign."

From the suggestions in the statements above should Tsvangirai and Ncube step down and pave way for a United MDC?

introducing Mutambara and would be enjoying more sucess if he had assuned control of the MDC soon after its split. He is aalso untainted by the corrution of the GNU. Tsvangirai maintains his support by using money and intimidation. Of the two leaders Ncube is most likely to resign if a genuine call for him to do so is made. Tsvangirai would make up excuse after excuse to cling onto power. There is a school of thought that Tsvangirai lost the elections on purpose, reason being there is more money to be made in opposing Mugabe than in leading the gvt. He therefore deliberately handed Zanu PF a victory by approving Zanu PF commissioners to lead the ZEC and ZHRC, despite being warned by Ncube against doing so. Tsvangirai is therefore in politics to amass wealth and not to lead the nation.

I think almost everyone is in agreement that of the two leaders, Ncube has been the epitomy of great leadership. However the internal dynamics of these parties is quite intriguing to say the least. For example, people in these parties see the respective leaders of the other party in the same way they see Mugabe. For that reason their differences keep them apart. The grassroots of the parties will not like it if these two leaders resign. Tsvangirai is seen as a Hollywood star of politics, the fact that he is considered one of the richest politicians also serves to boost his popularity as people who openly support him can be rewarded handsomely for their support. The danger with those supporters however is that they are more like mercenaries than genuine supporters. Ncube on the other hand was punished for his introduc

I think Tsvangirai has seen it all, physical and emotional abuse, I therefore think he is a human being and the congress must be left to decide people love him , he might have failed the pple but who could have survived massive rigging he and Ncube tried their best. The problem with us Zimbabweans is that we are divided along tribal lines and Zanu pays a lot of money to loyalists and they get away with all the ills from corruption to all the nagative isms you can think of, leave these two gentleman alone and form your own party, let's be constructive and not criticise

Morgan's integrity has been compromised. We need man and women of honor. His personal relationships have everything to do with the duty he is mandated to fulfill. If he has peoples needs at heart let him call for a national congress so that a decision is taken or resign then allow new leadership. He can always be the driving force from behind. We need a new face to lead the struggle. Aluta continua

Ncube decided to break away on the 11th hour when we had big chance to take Zanu PF so 4 me he is a sell out.. We are stuck with Zanu PF on our throats because of his decisions. As for Mangoma to be president of MDC that is an insult to my Zimbabwe!!!

Of course they may talk of leadership change bt replacing Tsvangirai with someone like Mangoma is the same because the later advices the former so it will be just a change of personality not policies bt if they are to step down and pave way to someone who is not in the NEC,it will make sense

I don't think that Tsvangirai will ever go, even if Welshman agreed to go. But to say the truth there is no reason why Welshman should go or be asked to go. Welshman has shown rare leadership skills far better that Tsvangirai.

Ncube must lead the united mdc coz he is a educated, smart, discipled and principled leader and Biti must be the deputy as Tsvangirai he has failed and he is so corrupt and inmature

Form another party rather than trying to build on the existing if you are serious why ask Tsvangirai and Ncube to resign. It is the party or congress that can ask them to step down.

    09 Feb 2014 at 07:58hrs

let Welshman be the leader of 1 Mdc because he's wiser, smarter, qualified and ready to work with anyone who's willing to help the people of Zimbabwe. Tsvangirai tried his best and i thank him for all his efforts so now its time for him to enjoy his legacy before ruins it.

Why should Ncube be a sacrificial lamb for Tsvangirai's sins? Is he the one who set his dogs to beat up Ncube before the split? Ncube was not corrupt in the GNU, but as for Tsvangirai and his team it became disgraceful. Ncube has not tarnish his image through sex scandals and inconsiderate relationships. How can a whole president of the party fall in love with daughters of senior zanu pf in quick succession and remain credible. Tsvangirai must go not Ncube to pave way for reunification.
