A resident at Nguboyenja is in trouble after he allegedly reconnected electricity at his house when the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution (ZETDC) had disconnected the power supply to the house.
Clench Phiri was not asked to plead to the charge of illegally connecting electricity when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya. The magistrate remanded him to a further date for trial.
The court heard that sometime in November 2015 the ZETDC disconnected electricity at the accused person's house due non payment of Zesa. Phiri allegedly connected the electricity unlawfully . The ZETDC officials were tipped over the scandal and went to the house where they discovered the illegal connections.
This led to his arrest.
