Pupil's at the once prestigious government run St Christopher's Primary in Gwanda are reportedly eating live lizards.
The pupil's are said to be hunting down the reptiles.
The trend that has shocked residents was reportedly started by a pupil who transferred from South Africa.
The incident came to light after some pupil's notified their parents of strange goings-on at the school.
School officials confirmed the incident.
"Its true that it happened, however its not a habit here" said an official.
"Pupils read that in books and thought of experimenting" said the official adding that they would take measure to curb it from spreading among other pupils.
Some parents reportedly vowed to withdraw their children from the school if no concrete measures are taken.
Matabeleland South Provincial Education Director Tumisang Thabela said investigations are on-going.
