The Zanu PF led government is concerned with crippling water shortages in Bulawayo, vice president Phelekezela Mphoko has said.
According to Mphoko, a lasting solution will be in place "very soon".
Bulawayo council is implementing punishing 72 hour water shedding exercises in the city.
However, the water crisis has reached alarming levels with some residents in western suburbs going for a week without receiving a drop of the precious liquid amid fears of a serious health hazard.
"The problem
of water in Bulawayo is a serious issue which dates back to 1912. The
most important thing is that we want water to be availed to the people
of Bulawayo and as Government we are working flat out to address the
challenge and very soon there will be a solution," Mphoko is reported as
saying.
Bulawayo's Zanu PF province has indicated that it will incorporate the water crisis in its conference resolutions this week.
