Man jailed 9 years for possession of ivory

A man from Nyamandlovu Forestry village has been slapped with a nine year jail term after he was found in possession of ivory worth $512, 50.
Innocent Nyathi (42) pleaded guilty before Magistrate Rosemary Dube who then convicted and sentenced him to nine years in jail.
Memory Mnsaka told the court that sometime in December 17 this year an anti-poaching team was on patrol Solus area area in Gwayi where they came across the accused person in the company of one Justice Zulu who is still were each carrying a sack.
They were stopped for search the contents in the sack they were carrying. But Zulu fled and Nyathi was arrested. After searching the sack they found two elephant tasks leading to his arrest.
