A Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) soldier, Private Chinyengetere stationed at the busy Beitbridge
border post lost his AK-47 service rifle in a fight over a woman.
That was on Monday when he was on duty and armed.
Police arrested the rival suitor,Clifford Muchera only to find that he had already given the gun to another person.
They have since launched a manhunt to recover the weapon.
According to reports, Chinyengetere left his station to hook up with lover and took off to bushy area near Dulivhadzimu clinic.
However, Muchera was watching all his movements from a distance.
"Muchera followed the two to the bush where a misunderstanding ensued over the woman.
"The two men started fighting, but Muchera was too powerful for the soldier. He assaulted him and disarmed him of his AK-47 service rifle," said the source.
Muchera disappeared with the rifle leaving behind a loaded magazine.
Reports say Muchera allegedly gave the gun to a friend known as Moffat Makuyana.
Chinyengetere reported the incident to his bosses leading to Muchena's arrest.
However, the gun was not recovered.
