Jealous man stabs neighbour in a dispute over girlfriend

A man from Mzilikazi in Bulawayo has been slapped with 315 hours of community service after stabbing his neighbour following a dispute over a girlfriend.
Vusumuzi Ndlovu Mpofu had pleaded guilty to assault charge when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sheunesu Matova. The magistrate sentenced him to 12 months in jail. Three months of the sentence were suspended for nine years on condition of good behavior. The remaining nine months were suspended for 315 hours of community service.
The court was told that on November 15 2016 at 6pm in Mzilikazi Mpofu assaulted Bekithemba Mbali Hadebe (19) by stabbing him with a kitchen knife twice on the left thigh after a misunderstanding over a girlfriend.
Hadebe sustained a deep cut on the left thigh and was referred to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.
