A police officer based at Ross Camp, Denis Pfumbirai had a newly-acquired police vehicle damaged by shebeen patrons in Makokoba during a botched raid.
Pfumbirai was part of officers who carried out a raid in November.
However, the vehicle was damaged in the process by angry patrons.
According to reports, the incident happened last November.
Police arrested Welshman Ncube (32) and charged him with malicious damage to property, but was acquitted for lack of evidence.
The court heard that when Pfumbirai arrived at one of the houses, shebeen patrons allegedly turned rowdy and stoned the police vehicle, leading to Ncube's arrest.
Ncube told the court that he was grabbed by a police officer while standing a distance away from the house after he arrived home and found the police in a brawl with some occupants, NewsDay reported.
He said the police officers just arrested and threw him into their vehicle.
