Violence coupled with abductions would be unleashed in Bikita West if Zanu PF is defeated during 21 January by-election, Masvingo Provincial Affairs minister Shuvai Mahofa has warned.
Mahofa reportedly told a rally at Gwindingwi Primary School last week attended by acting president Emmerson Mnangagwa.
"This is not a constituency to play silly games. There are some who disappeared in this constituency as you know. Let us go and vote wisely.
"This party has no room for funny business. Anyone who dares to do that will find themselves in deep trouble" she is quoted saying by Daily News.
"This is what we are telling Mai Mujuru. . . . acting president, we do as we say. What we want to assure you as Masvingo province is that we are going to give you the highest percentage vote.
"This is Bikita West, Bikita Best … let us go and vote wisely" she added.
Zanu-PF candidate Beauty Chabaya has claimed that Joice Mujuru-led ZimPF is panicking and seeking help from other "spent forces".
Chabaya will square off with Kudakwashe Gopo (ZimPF), Madock Chivasa (National Constitutional Assembly), Tanyaradzwa Makumbo (Progressive Democrats of Zimbabwe), and independent candidates Heya Shoko and Innocent Muzvimbiri.
The seat fell vacant when Zanu-PF's Munyaradzi Kereke was jailed for raping his niece at gunpoint.
