Family fined $300 over meat row during funerals

A no-nonsense chairman of a burial society in Njube, Veli Moyo fined one grieving family $300 for not serving him enough food especially meat during a funeral.

Moyo is chairman of Mehluko Burial Society.

The bereaved family was meant to get $1100 but  Moyo  only released $800.

According to one of the bereaved family member, Sunnygirl Mangena said at the time of the shocking incident, they were in double mourning.

They had lost an uncle and a later their grandmother who collapsed while mourning.

"While we were still mourning a double tragedy, Moyo started accusing us of not giving him enough food.

"So he grabbed the dishing spoon and served himself" she said.

According to Mangena, Moyo said the fine was for ill-treating burial society members during funerals.

However, Moyo is said to have released the $300 after the burials.
