Bloodly gold war, 10 attacked with machetes

A bloody gold rush war has erupted in  Inyathi leaving more than 10 people hospitalised after being attacked with machetes, knives and stones.

A fierce fight broke out after gold panner's  went on a rampage hunting for a rival gang and ended up indiscriminately attacking people at a bar.

That was on Friday evening at Senco Night Club, Mahamba Business Centre, state controlled Chronicle reported.
 
The publication quoted Martin Khabo,  a soldier on leave saying he was attacked by a machete and stones and left for dead.

"I had gone to the business centre to spend some time with friends as usual. We went to Sencor Night Club and at about 11PM, I decided to go home. As I was going out I was shocked to see scores of people stampeding back into the night club" he spoke from his hospital bed at Mpilo Central Hospital.

Khabo said he spotted a group of men armed machetes and knives.

He was struck with a machete at the back of his head.

Bubi Small-Scale Miners' Association secretary general Benjamin Ndlovu said scores of illegal gold miners from other areas have swamped the mining area igniting  fierce feuds.
