Zanu PF is reportedly issuing death threats and bribing teachers in Bikita West as a way of forcing them to campaign for the party.
Teachers have also been threatened with redeployment if they resist the moves.
The by- elections are set for 20 January.
According to the Amalgamated Rural Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe president, Obert Masaraure teachers are offered "petty financial rewards" to campaign for the party.
"The teachers are either being manipulated as political players or are being coerced to campaign for the Zanu PF candidate. The ruling party has taken advantage of the poor working conditions of the teachers, who have become susceptible to manipulation," Masaraure is quoted saying by NewsDay.
Masaraure said teachers are falling for the trap due to salary delays.
Masaraure added that normal learning is now being disrupted as teachers spend too much time on campaign trail.
