Man jailed 12 years for raping 11 year –old girl

A Victoria Falls man has been slapped with an effective 12 years in jail after he raped his 11 year old cousin.
The man who cannot be named for ethical reasons pleaded guilty to the charge before Hwange magistrate Collet Ncube who slapped him with 14 years in jail. Two years were suspended for five years on condition of good behavior.
Prosecutor Tompeyi Mbiza told the court that on January 2 this year the man (22) lured the girl into his bed room where he undressed her before raping her.
The girl later ran away after the encounter. The girl later told a relative that she was raped and a report made to the police led to the arrest of her cousin.
