A man in Bulawayo is in trouble after he cheated residents of their 120 chickens in the pretext he had secured an order of such a number of birds
with the rainbow Hotel and after taking them never gave the owner the money paid for them.
Jacob Badza (32) was not asked to plead to fraud when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Adeline Mbeure. He was remanded out of custody to March 30 for trial.
It is alleged that sometime in October 2016 Badza approached Lovemore Kaitano and told him that he had secured an order of 120 chickens with the Rainbow Hotel. Kaitano together with one Darlington Mageva gave him 120 chickens and supplied him with a bank account for the money to be deposited in it.
Badza supplied the Hotel with the chickens but never returned to the owners or never deposited the money into their account.
They later asked him about their money and he said he had deposited the money into his uncle's account who would then give them the money.
Efforts to get the money were fruitless leading to a police report being made. The total money defrauded was $840 and nothing was recovered.
