Lennox Mine shooting: 4 in court for attempted murder

Four security guards Meckson Mabharu, David Navhaya, Cletos Mhuku and Tendai Nyakubaya have appeared in court facing attempted
murder charges.
The four allegedly shot at a group of people they believed were illegal miners at Lennox Mine in Mashava on March 18, 2017. They appeared before Chivi Resident Magistrate Magistrate Bishard Chineka.
It is alleged that at around 9 pm at Lennox Mine Polite Mawela, Musipa Farai and Tineyeshe Hove, who were mining 20 metres outside the entrance of the mine were approached by a group of security guards and four of them were armed.
The security guards ordered Mawela and company to vacate the Mine said to belong to Two Flags Limited. The State outline said the accused opened fire on the complainants and were then joined by Cobra Security in attacking the accused.
Two pellets hit Mawela on the left side of the chest, 12 pellets hit Musipa on the left shoulder and arm and seven pellets hit Hove with 3 hitting him on the lower eye, one on the right eye and three on the right side.
The complainants were admitted at Masvingo General Hospital leading to the arrest of the four.
Bail was opposed and the four accused people were remanded in custody to April 6, 2017. Nathan Chamisa prosecuted.
