In Bulawayo a furious husband chopped off his wife's boyfriend's fingers after he caught them together red-handed.

Mthandazo Sibanda, employed as a domestic worker at Plot No 5 Dampier Road, Worringham, was allegedly attacked by Simbarashe Zimbudzi on Boxing Day after he was allegedly caught him  with his wife.

The incident occurred in Siphezini area under Chief Sigola where Mr Sibanda had gone to have a nice time with Ms Sinini Ndebele together with their friends.

After the attack Mr Sibanda reportedly attempted to return to his workplace but collapsed along the way due to excessive bleeding and was picked up by villagers the following morning.

Zimbudzi (26), of Plot 162 Marshal Street, Kensington, was yesterday arraigned before Bulawayo provincial magistrate, Mr Gideon Ruvetsa facing a charge of assault.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 10 January.

Allegations by the State are that after getting wind about his wife's infidelity, Zimbudzi armed himself with a machete and followed his wife to Siphezini village.

Mr Sibanda and Ms Ndebele had gone to one Constance Tshuma's homestead, which they were using as their meeting place.

Zimbudzi allegedly sneaked into one of the rooms and hid in a wardrobe waiting for the two lovebirds to enter the room.

The court heard that Mr Sibanda and Ms Ndebele entered a separate room to sleep and a few minutes later Zimbudzi came out of his hideout, scaring Ms Tshuma and other women who were in the sitting room in the process.

He reportedly threatened to chop them with a machete if they screamed and went straight to the room where his wife and boyfriend were sleeping and allegedly struck him twice. In the process he allegedly told him he was going to kill him.

Zimbudzi then left the scene leaving Mr Sibanda bleeding and writhing in pain.

The court heard that Mr Sibanda later left going to his workplace but was picked up in front of one Mrs Anna Nyathi's homestead lying in a pool of blood.

Mrs Nyathi alerted neighbours who discovered that Mr Sibanda had been attacked and had a deep cut on the elbow and his fingers had been cut.

He was rushed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals where he is reportedly still admitted.

Mr Trust Muduma appeared for the State.
