A Bulawayo woman, Silibaziso Mpofu (20) allegedly stole her boyfriend's underwear and took it to an inyanga with the intention of using juju to fix him.
It is alleged that Mpofu, of No 22 St Albans Road in Parklands and her boyfriend, Mr Themba Moyo, had problems in their relationship.
Mr Moyo (42), lives at No 9 Balmoral Road, Famona, and is employed by Zesa.
Mpofu was reportedly intending to fix him for the relationship that was not working out and decided to consult an inyanga.
In a fit of rage, Mpofu allegedly stole Mr Moyo's underwear, a shirt and a photo album, which she took to an unidentified inyanga apparently to use juju against him.
Mpofu is now being charged with engaging in practices commonly associated with witchcraft and malicious damage to property after she allegedly went on to use an unknown sharp object to cut Mr Moyo's four jackets into pieces.
She was not formally charged when she appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Tawanda Muchemwa yesterday. She was remanded in custody to today.
Allegations against Mpofu as presented by Mr Dumisani Moyo, for the State, are that sometime last week Mpofu, in trying to hit back at her boyfriend on the sour relationship, decided to use juju against him.
She allegedly stole his shirt, underwear and album and took them to an inyanga who advised her to write Mr Moyo's name on a piece of white cloth. The court heard that the inyanga allegedly cast a spell on the cloth where Mr Moyo's name was written and pierced it with a needle.
The inyanga allegedly went on to tie some stones on to the shirt, which Mpofu was going to use against him.
On Sunday while at Mr Moyo's place of residence in Famona, Mpofu allegedly started packing her things to walk out of the relationship.
After packing, she carried her bags with the intention of leaving the house but Mr Moyo arrived before her departure. The two reportedly started arguing about her walking out until Mr Moyo reportedly grabbed the bags and took them inside the house.
While inside, he allegedly unpacked the bags and in the process came across his items that had been used for juju. He confronted Mpofu demanding answers on what she wanted to use the items for and a misunderstanding arose.
During the course of the argument Mpofu allegedly picked up an unidentified object and cut four of Mr Moyo jackets into pieces.
