Army deny assaulting Chipinge residents

THE Zimbabwe National Army has claimed that soldiers never went on a rampage  in Chipinge assaulting residents following the recent fatal stabbing of a soldier, Prince Katsande during pole dance,Beverly Sibanda gig.

Katsande (27) died upon arrival at Chipinge District Hospital after he sustained serious injuries after he was stabbed by an unknown person following an altercation over a female patron, Dadirayi Makocheredze.

The incident happened at Dzonzayi Complex in Gaza high-density suburb.

According to Manica Post, 3 Brigade spokesperson, Lieutenant Moreblessing Mugumbate said soldiers never went on a rampage.

"Details to the cause of their misunderstanding are not clear, but it is believed that the suspect who is at large, the lady and the soldier were drinking beer peacefully. The details can only be clear if the suspect is arrested.

"The following morning after the incident, some shop owners in Chipinge closed their shops fearing that they would be victimised over the issue. However, there was no violence. The situation remained as normal," he said.
