Opposition MDC-T is reportedly financially crippled to the extent that some provinces do not have 'a party vehicle, even a motorbike to move around the area for mobilisation and administrative purposes'.
The revelations come as rival Zanu PF is acquiring hundreds of vehicles for 2018 election campaigns.
According to a report by Harare Post, the opposition movement's data capturing exercise launched last year is in disarray owing to the party's financial distress which has immobilised its provincial structures.
A party insider from the party's headquarters, Harvest House told Harare Post MDC-T was failing to complete its data capturing exercise due to lack of funding.
"Last year we on a data capturing exercise from grassroots level from all provinces and we were supposed to have finished the exercise by year end, unfortunately, due to the shortage of funds, only 21 percent of the targeted data forms were submitted. People are disgruntled, they cannot afford to fend for their families let alone the party," said the source as reported by the Harare Post.
"Most of the provinces don't have a party vehicle even a motor bike to move around the province for mobilization and administrative purposes. There are no proper party structures as District Chairpersons cannot afford to use their money to sponsor party business."
