Knife wielding robbers appear in court after stabbing and robbing resident
Two men from Vundu flats in Bulawayo are in trouble after they pounced on a Sizinda resident attacking him with knives and robbed him of mobile phone worth $20.
Thembelani Sibanda (23) and Sikhumbuzo Mahlangu (22) were not asked to plead to robbery and assault when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya. They were remanded in custody to August 1 for trial.
The court was told that on January 12 this year at 7pm, Richard Changeta was walking from town to Sizinda along a foot path. When he saw the two near Sizinda Clinic armed with knives. The two pounced on him demanding money.
Mahlangu grabbed him by the neck and Sibanda stabbed him twice on the head and twice on the left hand causing him to sustain some injuries.
They dragged him into a nearby road side maize field where they searched and stole from him his mobile phone. He later made a report to the police leading to their arrest on January 18.
The value of the mobile phone was $20.
