A political commentator Rejoice Ngwenya has ripped into the State Daily newspaper Chronicle's editor describing him as a "monkey" for publishing a story that alleged that the MDC leader Welshman Ncube bashed his wife, at the same time include the remarks by the alleged victims that she said she was never assaulted but only received harsh words from the politician.
"#PrimateReporting - the headline screams: "Welshman Ncube Bashes Wife". Then the closing paragraph says the wife said she 'regretted' wasting the police's time: "I wish to state that there is no basis for investigation, questioning or cautioning the accused person because he did not assault me but instead used harsh words on me …." This is what happens when you give a monkey an expensive laptop plus a badge written "Editor" or "Reporter," said Ngwenya.
"Professor Welshman Ncube is president of Zimbabwe opposition party MDC which is currently in negotiation for a coalition with MDCT president Morgan Tsvangirai. The two are former political partners and now want to combine forces to remove the authoritarian dictatorship of Robert Mugabe which has seen almost 90% of Zimbabwean adults lose their jobs."
He said in the 2013 presidential campaign, Mugabe promised 2 million jobs. So far, only his cronies have made $2 000 000 each in state plunder.
"The Chronicle is one of the many state sponsored propaganda papers desperate to see the MDC coalition collapse," he said.
