"I would like to take this opportunity to reveal to you all what has been said about me owning a number of buildings. The truth is that when Old Mutual was demutualised, Minister Kasukuwere informed me that there were a number of buildings that were on sale.
"He, Kasukuwere also advised that that he did not want to buy them he had already bought some. The first building I bought was York House in 1991..... Kasukuwere gave me the list of many buildings and took some of them through the money I got from a financier," said Mpofu.
Minister Mpofu has been accused having dirty diamond deals that have made him too rich. He has denied the charges. At one point in time he has 'I have never been poor' and declared that he has more cattle than anyone in Zimbabwe.
