Mthwakazi Republic Party spokesperson Mbonisi Gumbo has lost his wife at Mpilo Hospital after she suffered a heart problem on Monday and got admitted.
This was confirmed by party's President Mqondisi Moyo who said a dark cloud befell MRP family.
"On behalf of the Presidency and the National Executive Council we would like to send our deepest condolences to our friend and colleague, our very own National Executive Council member Mbonisi Gumbo, who is the founder member and currently the Secretary for information and publicity of Mthwakazi Republic Party on the untimely passing away of his dear wife. Mrs. Gumbo succumbed to a heart related problem," said Moyo.
"The President has been constantly supportive to the family. Last week, the president visited the late Gumbo's wife and her review was due today, and the president had promised to take her to undergo her review. The President arrived in Bulawayo at around 2215 hours from his party duties only to receive the news that she was in Intensive Care Unit. Today in the early hours of today when everyone was believing for the best she passed on."
He said the presidency and the National Executive Council is highly demoralized and depressed by this loss of their loved one.
"It is indeed not only a loss to Mbonisi Gumbo and his family, but also a loss to Mthwakazi struggle, because we know that behind a hero there is a strong heroine on the background. As Mthwakazi Republic Party we are saddened by this unwanted situation that befell the Gumbo family. She has been our valued essential element of our struggle to self determination and MRP would never be the same without her," Moyo said.
"May in particular Gumbo, his family and children be strong in these harsh trying time. Mthwakazi Republic Party invites all its members to celebrate the well lived life of our struggle icon Mrs Gumbo. She has been a supportive dear wife to our colleague in the struggle for self determination. We have run out of words and we can only say may her dear soul rest in eternal peace. We pray for strength and courage to our comrade Mbonisi Gumbo. Sithi inkosi ibisiphile njalo ibone kufanele ukuthi isithathele umuntu esimthandayo. Sithi kumuli lakuqhawe lakithi, duduzeka mfowethu uqine emoyeni."
