Overzealous Drunkards crew granted bail

An overzealous crew of drunkards who assaulted a police officer recently were released from remand prison after they were given bail by a city magistrate yesterday at West Commonage.
The six men from Njube suburb were given bail of $30 each while a juvenile who was part of the gang got a wholly suspended sentence.
The gang is alleged to have assaulted two police officers who were carrying out their duties.
The police officer, Edwin Siyapi, was looking for a fugitive whom he was supposed to apprehend but he became a victim of the six drinkers.
Siyapi who was in the company of Constable Mugabe, was assaulted by the gang of imbibers who turned violent. They poured beer on the two police officers.
Prior to that one of the gang members had to bite Constable Mugabe on his finger resulting in Mugabe leaving the wanted person before he disappeared into thin air.
The gang which comprises of Mwaiesi Mpelo.Zvaizikwana Nyengera.Muziwakibo Masuku.Mehluli Ndebele.Nqabutho Mpofu will appear in court on 14 February.
