BCC allowed Khupe to use Small city hall for free

The Bulawyo City Council recently allowed the vgice President of the MDC-T Thokozani Khupe Foundation to use the Small City Hal for the organbisation function for free.

This is revealed in the latest council minutes that the Town Clerk Christopher Dube had recently reported to the council that he had received from Councillor Tamani Moyo a request for free use of Small City Hall on 20th October, 2017:-. "The Thokozani Khuphe Cancer Foundation here by apply for free use of the Small City hall on the "20th October, 2017.

"This is an annual event to commemorate and conscientize women on the need to be screened for both Breast and cervix cancer. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated." In the past Council had acceded to free use of its facilities only in respect of national occasions such as Independence and Heroes Day Celebrations in view of the nature of such events. However, depending on the merits of each case, some applicants had been granted discounts (eg.25%, 50%, 75%) in respect of the relevant hire charges," reads the latest minutes.

"The normal hire charge for this facility for similar events was US$396.40 (inclusive of refundable deposit and vat)."

The council resolved that the request by Councillor T. Moyo be acceded to and the Small City Hall be availed free of charge to the Thokozani Khuphe Cancer Foundation for Breast and Cervical Cancer awareness activities as requested on 20th October, 2017
