Two men die as canoe capsizes in Esigodini

TWO Nkulumane residents drowned in Esigodini last Saturday as their canoe capsized under the cover of darkness.
The two identified as Percy Ndlovu (29) and Clifford Msipha (22) died on the spot.
They were in the company of 16 friends when the tragic incident occurred at Maguga Safari Dam in Esigodini.
Matabeleland South acting police spokesperson Loveness Mangena said the sub aqua unit struggling to retrieved the bodies as they did not have proper equipment.
"It was dark in the dam and sub aqua unit that went to the scene had no lighting equipment. But I hear one body of Ndlovu has since been retrieved" she said.
She said the canoe had gone close to about 100 metres into the dam before it capsized.
The other 16 managed to swim back to the dry ground.
Last December, 11 children drowned when an overloaded boat capsized during a cruise on Lake Chivero on Christmas Day. The boat, which carries five people, had 16 children and three adults on board.
