A BULAWAYO club DJ, Clancy Junior Munetsi, has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend.
Munetsi, 20, is accused of assaulting Egifah Tambudzai Maphosa, 20, following a 21st birthday party for her cousin in the city on 8 May 2010.
Munetsi, of Syringa Avenue in Sauerstown, accused Maphosa of "disorderly behaviour" at the party, according to prosecutors.
Masimba Saruwaka, for the state, told the Bulawayo Magistrates' Court that Munetsi has admitted slapping her twice in the face during an argument. She died four days later.
Magistrate Sikhumbuzo Nyathi heard that on May 12, four days after the party, Maphosa was bathing when a heavy thud was heard coming from the bathroom.
Her sister ran to the bathroom to find her lying on the floor. She said she felt dizzy, hot and was hungry.
Maphosa's mother Christine Adams prepared cereal porridge but Maphosa refused to eat.
She was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where she died just after 6.30PM.
A post mortem revealed that Maphosa had died as a result of subarachnoid haemorrhage - bleeding in and around the brain - caused by assault.
Munetsi was arrested and charged with murder. He was remanded to February 27 on US$100 bail.
