An MDC-T official Chalton Hwende has accused Home Affairs Minister Obert Mpofu and his police service for aiding the criminal elements to seize the Bulawayo office and claimed that they are now targeting other offices in Matabeleland South and North.
The remarks come after MDC-T faction led by party Vice President Thokozani Khupe on Sunday invaded the Bulawayo offices without the knowledge of the local leadership where reports say officials at the offices were seriously injured after they were assaulted and thrown out of the offices.
"I am surprised with Obert Mpofu's comment in the newspapers today. The police by omission aided the Bhebhe group to illegally seize our office using brute force. Our Party workers were brutalized and some are now fighting for their lives in Hospital," said Hwende.
"They identified the culprits and most of the culprits are still illegally occupying our offices and planning to violently take our Mat South and Mat North Office. When will the police do their constitutional duty and arrests perpetrators of violence?"
Members of the faction aligned to party President Nelson Chamisa have since been arrested for the violence.
