National cake must be shared equally - Welshman Ncube

Zanu-PF's strong opposition to devolution is not surprising, as they have been looting the national resources and developing one province in the expense of all others. There is an abundance of evidence to prove that the Mugabe regime policies were not people friendly. They want the nation to believe that it is only Zanu-PF and it alone that has the right to enjoy the fruits of our resources and certainly MDC will not accept that in any way. This was revealed by the MDC leader while addressing a rally in Mkoba district Gweru, Ascot open ground on Sunday.
"Zanu-PF is a corrupt party which has been made worse by power; they have been looting resources throughout the country, now that the people have said they want devolution of power so that they can take charge of resources to enable them to develop the country equally, Zanu-PF say people want to secede. "As MDC devolution of power is our government policy, we say let us share the national cake equally. We can't have one city looking beautiful and others being ghost towns, that is unacceptable," President Ncube said.
Turning to the issue of economic empowerment and indigenization the MDC leader who is also the Minister of Trade and International Trade said that the policy of indigenization is a good policy but the way in which it is implemented is a recipe for disaster. He said the policy must be implemented guided by respect of international laws and bilateral agreements that our country is part to avoid scaring away investors. He said the current scenario where a few Zanu-PF members are getting a bigger share than the majority of Zimbabwean is unacceptable.
"On indeginisation and economic empowerment as a party, we want to strike a balance between empowering our people and avoiding scaring away the investors, we are saying lets also follow the international bilateral agreements that we have signed as a country. We want indigenisation policy that is colour blind, a policy that is apolitical and seeks to benefit the communities of Zimbabwe not some individuals claiming to be communities. If this policy is really driven by the desire to empower the people of Zimbabwe, why can't we see the people of Manicaland getting their fair share of diamonds, why" said President Ncube amid a thunderous applause.
The rally was also attended by Deputy President Edwin Mushoriwa, Secretary General Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga, The Deputy Secretary General Moses Mzila Ndlovu, the National Chairperson Goodrich Chimbaira, the Deputy National Director of Strategy and Planning Joshua Mhambi, the Woman National Chairlady Thandiwe Mlilo, the Youth National Chairperson Gideon Mandaza, members of the National Executive and the provincial executive.
